Mango wood is a beautiful, light, fine and tightly grained timber that is growing in popularity. Now many pieces of furniture are made from this material. Furniture can be bought online from several companies, including those trading on eBay. Mango tress are native to Southern Asia. These trees grow relatively quickly and those who are interested in sustainable forestry will welcome this, although in our opinion all trees need to be felled sustainably no matter how quickly they can grow.
A Mango tree can grow to a height of approximately 25m, although most remain at 15m-20m. Mango wood is a very dense, hard wood, which has a beautiful, close swirling grain. Once waxed, the appearance is very classy, almost resembling mahogany in pattern, but much lighter in colour.
The wood from mango trees tends to only be obtained once the tree has reached maturity and the fruit bearing abilities have slowed in respect to younger specimens. Although furniture is made from this type of wood, worktops are rarely made. Do not let this put you off though, because mango wood is still great in the kitchen. Wine racks, small tables and drawers are often made from this timber and due to their unique, clean and light appearance, will look great in any modern or contemporary styled kitchen.
